The following terms and vocabulary should give clarity to words used and referenced throughout the website located at: www.oasisseniorhomecare.co.uk . They serve as identifiers when referencing organisations and individuals to avoid ambiguity.

You the service user or members of your family seeking our services are collectively known as the following terms whenever referenced on any of our platforms:

‘You’, ‘Your’, ‘Yours’, ‘Service User’, ‘Care Recipient’, ‘NOK’, ‘Next of Kin’,  ‘POA’, ‘Power of Attorney’, ‘Patient’, ‘Client’, ‘Customer’, ‘Elderly’, ‘Patron’    

 

Individuals carrying out care duties during placements on a 1:1 basis are collectively known as the following terms whenever referenced on any of our platforms:

‘Carer’, ‘Carers’, ‘Care Provider’, ‘Care Giver’ ‘SEP’, ‘Self Employed Individual’, ‘Self Employed Carer’, ‘Self Employed Professional’, ‘Professionals’,  ‘Contractor’, ‘Sub Contractor’, ‘Third Party’, ‘Partner’, ‘PA’, ‘PAs’, ‘Personal Assistant’

 

Individuals providing their own private 1:1 clinical or health services are collectively known as the following terms whenever referenced on any of our platforms:

‘SEP’, ‘Self Employed Professional’, ‘Professionals’, ‘Nurse’, ‘GP’, ‘Doctor’, ‘Consultant’, ‘Specialist’, ‘Physios’, ‘Occupational Therapist’, ‘Third Party’, ‘Contractor’, ‘Sub Contractor’, ‘Partner’

 

Placement:

When a self employed carer accepts a role to look after our service user in their own home, this is known as the placement.

 

Self Employment:

Self employment is essentially when an individual works for oneself, they are responsible for their own: actions, omissions, communications, self-declarations, taxations, trainings, compliance, failures and successes of their own commerce. These group of workers are legally separate and not part of Oasis Senior Home Care ltd, however we work in partnership with them instead to find them work and to source our servicer user a care professional.

 

Live in Care:

Is the provision whereby a care professional resides with our service user in their own home during a placement to provide daily support to enable independence.

 

Personal Care:

Is the activity whereby a care recipient consents for another individual to support them with personal hygiene maintenance such as bathing, showering and continence management etc.

 

 

 

Social Support:

Is the provision whereby an individual supports another with activities usually leisure related such as: hobbies, outings within the community and beyond to enhance the quality of life for the care recipient.

 

Advanced care planning / directives:

Is a detailed plan in which has been agreed ahead of time with the care recipient and their respective families, this is usually done if an individual is anticipated to lose the ability to make wise or sensible decisions for themselves in the future due to a decline in cognitive function such as dementia etc.

 

DNAR certificate (Do Not Attempt Resuscitation):

This is a special and legal certificate for the named individual, it informs parties providing health and care provisions to NOT attempt resuscitation should the care recipient’s heart or equivalent stop working. This form has been created together with the individual and their respective doctors and wider healthcare team.

Terms of Engagement:

Is the agreement between two parties which is legally binding in the collective practices which does not result in a conflict of interests whereby one party undermines another for personal benefit or interest or both, it is therefore an agreement which amongst the two parties have agreed to in the ways of working in advance with regards to what can and cannot be done within reasonable and acceptable norms when working in partnership with one another.
